Lord Gowthorpe's is an Independent Special School just 15 minutes from the centre of York.  We have opened our examination centre ready for Summer 2026 exams after passing accreditation to deliver and provide examinations for Cambridge International. We offer examinations for iGCSE (Cambridge) and Functional Skills (Accredited through NOCN).  

 

In addition to our own school students, we identified the need for a smaller examinations centre for home educated young people and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.  

 

We have four separate pods for exams which are inside our welcoming and peaceful examinations room with staff experienced and educated in supporting our young people, particularly those who struggle with anxiety or are autistic.  

 

We are open for visits at set times during the year so that potential candidates can come and look at the room and meet some of our staff to reduce the anxiety of the exam day.
