Some of our students have continued to take part in non-contact boxing sessions this half term, and it has been fantastic to see the positive impact these sessions are having.
Non-contact boxing offers a brilliant way for students to stay active while also supporting their emotional wellbeing. Through structured training, controlled movements, and clear routines, students are able to channel their energy in a safe and supportive environment.
Building confidence and self-discipline
Throughout the sessions, students have worked on coordination, balance, and fitness, while also developing important personal skills such as focus, perseverance, and self-control. The emphasis on technique rather than contact allows students to build confidence at their own pace, helping to improve self-esteem and resilience.
Many students have found the sessions particularly helpful for:
Reducing stress and anxiety
Improving concentration and emotional regulation
Building confidence and a sense of achievement
Developing self-discipline and respect
The clear structure and consistent expectations of the sessions have supported students to remain engaged, motivated, and proud of their progress.
A valued community partnership
We are incredibly grateful to Legions Boxing Club in Dunnington for their continued support. Their professional, inclusive approach ensures that every student feels welcomed, supported, and encouraged to do their best. The positive relationships built during these sessions play a huge role in helping students feel safe and confident while trying something new.
Learning beyond the classroom
Activities like non-contact boxing are a great example of how physical activity can support wider learning and wellbeing. By combining movement with structure and positive reinforcement, students are able to strengthen both their physical and emotional skills, supporting success in the classroom and beyond.
We are proud of the effort and commitment students have shown during these sessions and look forward to continuing this valuable opportunity as part of our wider wellbeing offer.
