This week in IGCSE Science, students have been learning all about cells. They explored how to identify different sub-cellular structures and describe their functions, while also comparing the key differences between animal, plant and bacterial cells.

Students also looked at specialised cells, developing an understanding of how different cells have unique adaptations that allow them to perform specific roles within living organisms. Next week, students are looking forward to creating their own plant cell specimen slides and viewing them under microscopes to see these structures up close.

In KS3 Science, students took part in an engaging practical investigation exploring the process of diffusion. They discovered how increasing the temperature of a solution can increase the rate of diffusion, collecting data and developing their graphing and analysis skills as they interpreted their results.

Students also explored the levels of organisation in living things, discussing how cells, tissues, organs and organ systems all work together to allow an organism to function and survive. A fun cup stacking activity helped students identify real-life examples of each level, bringing the concept to life in an interactive way.

It has been a fantastic week of hands-on science, curiosity and discovery! 🔬
