Today at the farm, our students stepped into the role of bakers as they prepared a batch of delicious carrot and apple cookies for our horses. The activity was a wonderful mix of practical learning and fun, with students carefully measuring ingredients, mixing the batter and learning about the importance of horse nutrition along the way.
As they worked together, there were plenty of conversations about what foods are safe and healthy for horses, why certain ingredients are used and how treats should always be given in moderation. It was a great opportunity for students to build their understanding of animal care while developing teamwork and practical life skills in the process.
The cookies were baked as a special reward for our horses following yesterdayās BHS assessment. After all their hard work helping us achieve our accreditation, we felt they deserved something a little extra tasty as a thank you. Once the treats were ready, students proudly delivered them to the stables where they were met with plenty of eager noses and excited snorts.
Safe to say the cookies were very well received by our four-legged friends, with some horses showing such enthusiasm that even the baking tray looked tempting enough to eat!
