After a restful Easter break, it has been fantastic to see our students return with focus and enthusiasm as they dive straight back into their maths learning.

Our GCSE groups have been getting hands-on with algebra tiles, using practical resources to support their understanding of how to calculate unknown values in equations. This visual approach has helped students break down more complex concepts and build confidence when solving problems.

Alongside this, students have been revisiting key algebra topics including substituting values into equations, exploring the nth term in sequences, and rearranging equations. It has been great to see learners engaging with these topics and developing their problem-solving skills.

Our Functional Skills groups have been focusing on strengthening core numeracy skills, including column multiplication and bus stop division. A secure understanding of these foundations is essential for further progress, and students have been working hard to build confidence and accuracy. To support this, they have also been using Times Tables Rockstars to consolidate their multiplication skills in a fun and engaging way.

It has also been encouraging to see students taking responsibility for their learning, working hard to catch up on any missed lessons. Our new 4B’s initiative has been a great success, with students supporting one another by checking their work and asking a friend before seeking help from the teacher. This has helped to build independence, resilience and collaboration across the classroom.

A brilliant start from everyone, we look forward to seeing this momentum continue throughout the summer term! 🌟
