It has been another productive week in Maths, with students continuing to develop both their understanding and confidence across key topics.

Our GCSE groups have been working hard on their algebra skills, with some now progressing onto inequalities. Using familiar concepts such as seesaws and scales, students were introduced to the meaning of the symbols >, < and =, first through numbers and then applying this understanding to algebraic inequalities. This practical approach has helped make more abstract ideas clearer and easier to grasp.

In Functional Skills, students have had a great week focusing on column multiplication before moving on to long division. To support their understanding, they used Base 10 resources, helping to visualise the process and consolidate the key skills needed for success.

Students have also been using iPads to show their working out, providing an alternative to pen and paper and allowing them to present their thinking in different ways.

It has been fantastic to see students engaging so positively and continuing to build strong foundations in Maths.
